Ettinger, Finstad Top Election Picks in County

The recent special primary election on May 24 to choose candidates for August’s special election was not close for the DFL candidate, but very close for the Republican front runner.

Jeff Ettinger was the clear choice among First Congressional District’s DFL voters — and Martin County’s as well — with 12,130 votes (64%). Sarah Brakebill Hacke was a distant second place with 2,492 (13%). In Martin County, Ettinger received 119 votes (45%), but Richard Painter was the second choice with 47 votes (18%).

Districtwide, Brad Finstad received 13,695 votes from Republicans (38%), to Jeremy Munson’s 13,268 total (37%). In Martin County, Finstad received 721 votes (49%) to Munson’s 466 votes (32%).

Haroun McClellan (Grassroots — Legalize Cannabis) received four votes in Martin County and Richard B. Reisdorf (Legal Marijuana Now) received 13 votes.

There are 697 precincts in the First District’s 21 counties of which Martin County has 37 precincts.

Ettinger, Finstad, McClellan and Reisdorf will be on the ballot for the Aug. 9 primary. Early in-person or by-mail voting for this election begins June 24.
